Moroccan wedding blanket clutch bag made with vintage yellow handira
These beautiful bags are hand made from original vintage Moroccan Wedding blankets, each blanket is a one-of-a-kind hand made piece from which only a limited number of unique bags can be made, so every bag is a very special and original statement piece.
This vintage 1980s handira from the beni mguild tribe is embellished with silver metal sequins and cream and yellow wool and finished with delicate yellow tassels.
The bag is fully lined in cream cotton and backed with a heavy woven sustainable cotton.
Known as Moroccan wedding blankets, Handira are woven by Berber women in the Middle Atlas Mountains of Northern Morocco in anticipation of a wedding. The delicate process of hand-weaving is thought to endow the textile with baraka, or blessings. When complete, the wedding blanket serves not only as warmth and decoration for the bride, but also to ward off evil and to bestow good luck upon the newlyweds.
